Custom Private Sauna in Cyprus — From an Empty Room to a Finished Sauna

A bespoke private sauna designed and built from scratch inside a residential property in Cyprus.

The project transformed an existing lower-ground-floor room into a complete sauna, with every element designed around the available space — from the timber structure and insulation to the ventilation, drainage, lighting, heater and custom benches.

Built from the room up

The sauna was constructed inside an existing lower-ground-floor room rather than installed as a standard sauna cabin.

A custom timber frame was built to support the finished construction, followed by sauna insulation and vapour protection. The hidden structure was planned together with the ventilation, drainage and electrical preparation.

This allowed the technical systems to be integrated into the construction while keeping the finished interior clean and simple.

Premium Black Alder interior

The walls, ceiling and custom benches were finished in thermo-treated Black Alder from Pieksawood.

Two board widths — 90 mm and 120 mm — were used to create a subtle variation across the interior while maintaining a consistent, calm appearance.

The benches were designed specifically for the room, allowing the seating, heater and available space to work together.

HUUM Hive and discreet lighting

A HUUM Hive Mini electric sauna heater forms the centre of the interior.

The stone-filled cylindrical design works naturally with the timber surroundings, while Cariitti lighting provides a warm, discreet glow.

Ventilation was custom-fabricated in stainless steel and integrated into the sauna, while the drainage was connected to the property's existing external system with a dry trap.

A complete custom sauna in Cyprus

This project combined custom sauna design, structural construction, insulation, ventilation, drainage, electrical preparation, premium timber, custom benches, lighting and heater installation in one compact residential space.

Rather than adapting the room to a standard sauna, the sauna was designed around the room.

The result is a private wellness space that combines natural materials, discreet engineering and a clean contemporary finish.
